Guided fishing on Lake Vänern

Lake Vänern is Sweden's largest lake and one of the country's finest waters for trolling for salmon and trout. As your guide I plan the day around where the fish are holding, the wind and the water temperature. No previous trolling experience is needed – we go through everything on board.

Every trip is private. We never mix different bookings in the same boat, so the day is shaped entirely around you and your party.

Trolling for salmon and trout

Salmon and trout are the main targets on Lake Vänern. We fish several rods at once, spread the lures across different depths and directions and keep adjusting speed and depth until we find a pattern that works.

When conditions allow we can also target zander. We decide together which fishing suits the day best.

How a fishing day works

We meet in the harbour, run through safety on board and rig the boat together. Then the rods go out and the fishing begins. When a fish strikes, the rod is yours – I help with the fight, the net and everything else.

You can choose a full day or a half day. During the day I explain how lure choice, speed, depth and water temperature fit together, so you take knowledge home with you as well as the experience.

Equipment – everything included

There are 10 rods on board, rigged with the lures that work best on the day. We fish with downriggers, planer boards and outriggers, and a FishHawk reports speed and temperature down at fishing depth. Fish are fought on ABU Ambassadeur 7000 reels mounted on Workhorse rods.

You do not need to bring any fishing tackle of your own. All fishing gear is included.

Departure harbours on Lake Vänern

Depending on wind and fishing we may start from Kristinehamn, Laxhall or another suitable harbour on Lake Vänern. We agree on the departure harbour together before your fishing day so we can fish where conditions are best.

Safety and fishing rules

The boat is a Beneteau Antares 650 carrying all required safety equipment, and both boat and guests are insured. We always run a safety briefing before leaving the harbour, and the fishing is moved or shortened if the weather calls for it.

Current fishing regulations for Lake Vänern, including closed seasons and minimum sizes, are always followed. I explain what applies during the day.

What to bring

Dress for the weather – warm layers, a windproof jacket and shoes that handle water – plus a hat, sunglasses and sun protection. Bring your own food and drink, and a camera if you like.

Full day and half day trips are booked directly in the calendar, where you choose lake, date and number of guests. The price covers the whole boat for 1–3 guests.
