Lake Vättern is deep, clear and cold, and it asks different questions than Vänern. The clear water makes lure presentation, fishing depth and speed matter a great deal, so the day is planned around the conditions we actually meet.
The trip is private for you and your party. We never mix different bookings in the same boat.
Trolling for salmon, char and trout
On Lake Vättern we troll for salmon, char and trout. Salmon are often found in open water with lures working high or at mid depth, while char are usually targeted deeper with downriggers and carefully controlled speed.
Trout fishing tends to be closer to shallows, edges and structure, especially in the colder part of the season. Which species we focus on depends on season and the conditions of the day.
Season, temperature and wind
Early spring and late autumn bring colder surface water and fish higher up, while warmer summer water pushes the fish down and makes downriggers essential. Wind decides both where we can fish safely and how the water layers.
That is why the harbour and fishing area are decided close to the fishing day – the aim is always to fish where conditions are best.
How a trolling day works
We meet in the harbour, run through safety and rig the boat together. Then we set the rods, find the right depth and fine-tune speed and lures through the day. When a fish strikes, the rod is yours.
You choose a full day or a half day. A longer session gives more time to try several depths and areas.
Downriggers and other gear
There are 10 rods on board, rigged with the best lures for the day. Downriggers, planer boards and outriggers let us cover several depths at once, and a FishHawk reports speed and temperature down at the lure. Fish are fought on ABU Ambassadeur 7000 reels on Workhorse rods.
All fishing gear is included – there is no need to bring tackle of your own.
Departure harbours on Lake Vättern
Common departure harbours are Granvik and Karlsborg, but we can also start from another suitable harbour on Lake Vättern depending on the weather and where the fishing is best. We agree on the harbour together before the trip.
Safety and fishing rules
The boat is a Beneteau Antares 650 carrying all required safety equipment, and both boat and guests are insured. A safety briefing is always given before we leave the harbour, and the weather decides whether we need to move or shorten the fishing.
We follow current fishing regulations for Lake Vättern, including closed seasons and minimum sizes.
Price and booking
Full day and half day trips are booked directly in the calendar, where you choose lake, date and number of guests. The price covers the whole boat for 1–3 guests.
